About Me
Hi, I’m Kayla, a passionate fashion professional with a background in digital merchandising, styling, and e-commerce. My journey began at The New School in Manhattan, where I earned a BFA in Performing Arts while working full-time and commuting from Brooklyn. Balancing school and multiple jobs taught me resilience, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for creative expression.
My career in fashion started on the sales floor, assisting with visual merchandising and styling at Lou & Grey and managing merchandise at Rumble Boxing. These experiences led me to Couper, a fashion startup focused on sustainability and emerging female designers. At Couper, I wore many hats—uploading products to the website, curating edits, managing inventory, benchmarking competitors, executing marketing strategies, assisting with event planning, and even styling models on set at photoshoots. I also traveled across the country to run pop-up shops, where I played a key role in selling out featured pieces.
Working at a startup gave me hands-on experience in nearly every facet of digital merchandising, from site management and analytics to styling and brand storytelling.
After leaving Couper in January 2024, I joined Urban Outfitters as a part-time sales associate. In just three months, I was promoted to full-time Product Flow Specialist, where I learned the ins and outs of shipment, receiving, and strategic product placement. This experience has deepened my understanding of inventory management and allowed me to see, first-hand, how product presentation directly impacts sales and customer engagement.
Working in both startup and corporate retail environments has given me a well-rounded perspective on the fashion industry. Now, I’m excited to continue growing, innovating, and bringing fresh, trend-forward merchandising strategies to the table.
When I’m not working in fashion, you can find me at Xfinity Live! as a part-time buckle bunny, acting, modeling, and staying inspired by the ever-evolving world of style and design.
